The Decentralized Identity Foundation (DIF) has officially renamed the agentic identity framework donated by Vouched to the Know Your Agent Operating System (KYA-OS). The new name reflects the framework's expanded scope - an identity and delegation standard built for the full range of agentic protocols, not just MCP. It's being developed under open, community-driven governance through DIF's Trusted AI Agents Working Group (TAAWG).
The urgency is real and global. During a recent tour of Asia, DIF Executive Director Grace Rachmany found organizations in China and Korea independently raising the framework in conversations about secure agentic AI. As Rosalyn Curato, Chief Innovation Officer and GM of Agentic Security at Vouched, put it: "We donated it to DIF because open standards are how industries solve shared problems. Seeing organizations from across the globe join DIF to work on this tells us the industry agrees."
Early demonstrations have already shown how KYA-OS enables verified agents to complete purchases on behalf of consumers — with full verification of who the agent is, who the human buyer is, and that all permissions are properly granted.
